John Lennon inadvertently plagiarized a Chuck Berry song that was owned by a mobster and hatched a plan with Phil Spector to correct it. What could go wrong? As it turns out, quite a lot! This is the story of a John Lennon record that sold less than 1500 units and was a huge embarrassment to Lennon, Capitol Records and the Beatles.

In part 2 of our 2 part series on bootleg recordings, we tell the story of Mike Millard "Mike the Mic" who recorded hundreds of bands in the 70s in Los Angeles, including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who and many more, and then interview Mr Stephen Coates of the band "The Real Tuesday Weld" who just wrote a book titled "X-Ray Audio: The Strange Story of Soviet Music On The Bone". Fascinating book, you must hear what it was like for music fans behind the iron curtain during the cold war.

The 1st of our 2 part series on bootleg records; we discuss events that led up to the creation of the bootleg industry, the story behind the first widely distributed bootleg Bob Dylan's "The Great White Wonder" and The Rolling Stones "LiveR Than You'll Ever Be", some of the personalities, including Frank Zappa, that either participated or were forced to deal with part of the bootleg story and tips for vinyl collectors interested in adding some boots to their already crowded record shelves.

Dean Benedetti just wanted to get some saxophone tips from his hero Charlie Parker. He ultimately ended up with a pile of recordings cut onto paper discs that captured the legendary jazz musician at one of the most formative periods of his career.
